Opinion: A welcome change

A welcome change To the editor: You might have noticed a change at a local drugstore in Ukiah. It is a bold step for a store to stop selling tobacco products, and promote quitting instead. Promoting health is a suitable role for drugstores, and a widespread adoption of this attitude would be welcome. As Project Director of the county's Tobacco Control Program, I am part of the County of Mendocino HHSA Public Health's ongoing effort to promote and protect health, and I am glad to see the business community becoming more aware and responsible.

Drawing on field interviews, previously published research, and a survey that is being carried out by the EGA, Daw is trying to bring economic rigor to the hazy world of Mendo bud.
