Lights, camera, action

The group's latest film is as yet unnamed. The film will be approximately 12 minutes in length once the final edits are completed. "It's like raising a child," says Duncan. There's not much video in this county. I don't imagine there are too many places where kids can have an experience like this. A public showing of the student's three films will take place on Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 pm. Duncan and Nate will offer a brief presentation on filmmaking and guest will have an opportunity to take a tour of the MATV studio and become station members.

A Vacation Cruise Gone Horribly Wrong in T.C. Boyle's New Novel

Boyle talks about his new novel, inspired by a true story, The Harder They Come . On a vacation cruise to Central America with his wife, seventy-year-old Sten Stensen unflinchingly kills a gun-wielding robber menacing a busload of senior tourists. The reluctant hero is relieved to return home to Fort Bragg, California after the ordeal--only to find that his delusional son, Adam, has spiraled out of control.

In Our Opinion: Water flow changes needed

It seems obvious a new method of determining water flows out of Lake Mendocino is needed and needed now. The relationship between Lake Pillsbury water and Lake Mendocino water no longer computes since there is far less water coming in to Lake Mendocino from Lake Pillsbury through the Potter Valley project . The bottom line is that because of the old way of doing things, officially the water condition for Lake Mendocino right now is defined as "normal" even though the entire state of California has been in a drought emergency for several years.

I recently sat down with the Stony Lonesome for a hard-hitting, take no prisoners, straight from the hip interview. Unfettered Religious Freedom Really Means the Freedom to Do Harm…
From Valerie Tarico Freedom to discrimination with impunity?  It’s worse than that. Almost universally, the religious freedom claims pursued in the U.S. over the last two decades seek the freedom to do harm, most often the freedom to harm queers, women, children or religious outsiders or our secular government institutions. It’s Not Just About Bigotry and Homophobia […]
