Desalting

There is a finite amount of salt free water and clearly, with a growing population, the demand for this water will only increase. The obvious solution to this is to obtain the water from the ocean via desalting plants, thereby having a virtually unlimited supply of water. Once the problem of providing the energy needed to run the desalting plants is solved, this becomes a viable option. See Category:Energy.
