Health Care Research

Currently a large percentage of our Medical Research is done by pharmaceutical and other companies. This has the disadvantages of progress being dependent upon profit potential, plus once advances are made they are restricted in use to the company that developed the product. Society would be better served if most research was done at universities, where the link to profits is less obvious and advancements are immediately available to the public at large. Federal funding of Medical Research should be apportioned with these goals in mind.
